Another tantalizing moment of the simple life! You made my mouth water from your story. Ms. Ruby is an American treasure. We have tomato sandwiches in common! White bread too in my clan. Sometimes we add bacon. Sometimes we add farm fresh grown iceberg lettuce. Mostly though it’s just a home grown red ripe tomato, white bread and me on a summer evening. Just wonderful writing Pat. When you write it’s akin to watching a movie! I can see every movement you make with every word you write! ❤️😘🌹
Praise the lord a tomato sandwich sister! My sister reminded me that our dad often snuck in a sweet onion slice. It should be a medical rule to eat one once a day--good for what ails you!
Thank you Matthew! Always always always pull over! If you want more and haven't seen it, scroll down to the great pie adventure stories. Hopefully it'll inspire you some more!
Yep, white bread growing up in Brooklyn. Nice slices of fresh tomatoes on Silvercup bread. I recall a hint of pepper. I still have to have black pepper on my tomatoes. I don’t use white bread these days.
I do love your stories, Pat!
This was delightful, Pat! 🍅 🥪

I’d read an entire book of these roadside‑America moments. You make the ordinary feel like a place worth pulling over for.

So grateful for that, Nancy....
