Pat, I love what you've done with the setting and dialogue here. Especially the back-and-forth, 2 or 3 conversations going on at one--hard to do without loosing the reader. Reminds me of the West Wing multiple-conversation scenes that I enjoy so much, people talking past one another, over one another, but still somehow connecting. Excellent!

Thank you as always! It's verbatim with a lot of editing. There was a whole back and forth about almond milk in diets and the assistant knew the woman's boyfriend that I tried to get in but they diluted the main undertone of what was going on...plus it was like 10 pages long! I sometimes feel bad about evesdropping but, as my mom used to tell me, it's how you get to know people and good stories.

Lovely story, Pat. And now I have to go out and buy corn flakes!

Thanks Jolene! I appreciate that. The post office....go figure! Dont worry about sending them back. Maybe you know someone who'd be interested in them?

Really? thank you! I think I need a photo of your brother's cabinet.

I'm about to meet my brother for what he's calling the great pie road trip down this back road that's supposed to be lined with diners/restaurant with great pie. I've brought a big notebook to eavesdrop! (If you make the muffins let me know how they turn out)

Pat, this is my favorite piece from you to date. I have been in that paint store - or one just like it! I encourage you to keep your notepad handy and do a little more eavesdropping!!! My brother has been painting their kitchen cabinets with a very similar color. He says it grows on you and has helped him stay with the job. And thanks for the Apple Sugar Muffin recipe. That added cup of cornflakes makes me smile.
