This brought back a memory of sledding in Owls Head Park. Tricia was in the fourth grade. Her Malaysian babysitter had never seen snow before. We stayed until until midnight.
I remember a snowy golf course and a sled ride that ended inches from a bluff overlooking the river, miles below. At least it looked like miles to me: I was 6--and of course no idea how to steer a sled. Thanks for the memory, Pat.
On our island, we have a nine hole golf course where adults cross-country ski and kids sled -- and so do grown-ups. One of the slopes is called Kid Killer Hill. I hope every town has such a place -- good for you to treat yourself, and good for your sister to keep you company
Kid Killer--that's a good one. I hope so, too. It was actually forbidden--as in police patrol, to sled on ouirs but the police never seemed to go beyond the fence. I like to think they sled after everyone went home. My sister is a trooper
Such a delightful story, especially for a SoCal resident whose closest encounter with snow lately has been watching it pummel the East Coast on TV. A laugh—and a wild ride on a sled (even if just vicariously)—is just what the doctor ordered! Thanks, Pat!
Thanks for asking, Pat. We’re fine, but a whole lot of folks here aren’t. The rebuilding will take years. And now we’re getting much needed rain, but unfortunately it’s likely to cause mudslides in the burned areas. Definitely a lot of challenges living in “paradise.”

That is such a beautiful thing! Did your babysitter like it?

I applaud your 6 year old gumption! Did you ever go down again?

Trying to talk my brother to come with me this year! But are you alright down there in SoCal??

How fun Pat! Love the sound of laughter outside on snowy days and nights! I definitely would have gone sledding with you and your sis!!
Next time!!
