Pat this is a terrific post! Thank you for the video/link and summary of Saul Alesky's Rules of Engagement. I will be referring to this post, as needed when feeling down-hearted by what is going on. . Thank you for telling us about your dad!!!
Here are some things that I don't understand. Why aren't groups like The American Medical Association, The American Bar, and our American Scientists speaking out and bringing law suits? Here in Washington state we are already losing important medical clinics and not just in rural areas where they are critical, but also the specialty clinics in urban areas that handle mental health issues, children's unusual medical needs, and so much more. Just my 2 cents on things that need to be fought for.
Today I am flying my US flag not only for Flag Day and No Kings Day but also to honor my father who passed in 2016. He was a decorated Marine who fought in the South Seas after Pearl Harbor and took his Marine Corp training seriously for his whole life, in being a man who was as good as his word. I am only grateful he is not here to witness what has been happening this past few weeks. I dare say he would not have believed it could happen. As I find it hard to believe, too. Add Military Vets to the groups that should be speaking up!!!
I was just talking to my husband about the day and asked if he thought the success and enthusiam felt out there was because at least the people were finally doing something, anything! Ive been asking the same question about why organizations who are on the frontline about why they're not raising their voices. I feel like slapping them and telling them to man/woman up and do what is right for our country. Maybe they will after seeing the turnout. But it's too late for a lot of people already affected by cuts and cruelty and stupidity.
I had been thinking about Alinsky since January and what my dad told us about sticking up for people. He wasn't a total rabble rouser but he believed in justice and was a proud vet. This parade would make his head explode. He'd be so fired up. We gotta kept the faithand do what we can, right?
Absolutely right Pat! And you are doing your part with this post today! I would love to see the 4th of July be Round 2 of No Kings Day! With family and neighborhood potlucks and barbecues. It would be a good way to get information out to people who have not been paying attention.
ps It was a big deal here in Washington state too! 😊
From an old (I.e. previous) Socialist: a losing battle the evolutionary masses like leaders. Just hope for the best.
Back in the day, in my political days, as a young man, Saul Alinsky was a must read. Thanks for the reminder.

My dad would be so disheartened by everything that is going on. It felt good to attend a rally today. Thanks for sharing some inspiration.
