Isn't it? I just stood there making a little scene about the blindness to the girls' realities. Whoever set up the exhibit should get a good talking to.
Right?! I will make one and pretend it's for my family but really, it's for my breakfast! ...and they can only have 1 slice each so I have at least a couple of breakfasts
I've eaten a lot of coconut cream pies in the life but none like this! I would have asked for the recipe but for something so perfect, I would have had to ask for the baker, too.
I agree--you guys deserve a medal for all that pie consumption, Pat! I don't know how you did it. When you took the leftovers to go, did you actually eat them later? I also think it's admirable that you and your brother enjoyed that time together, were singleminded and didn't kill each other. Did you say you had a favorite pie? Was it that coconut cream that you said you were "floored by"? I may have missed that. Myself, I'd just have liked to take that road trip and enjoy the scenery, the camaraderie, and the occasional slice of pie, though not so many as you managed in single-day stretches. Well done and reported!
I can't believe how many days slip by me lately! I honestly don't know how I did it but my brother is a true example of a cast iron stomach. I gave some of the leftovers to my sons (2 other cast iron stomachs). My husband did his share, too. I never thought I'd say this but it's going to be a very long time until I eat or even think of making a pie. Except, maybe for that coconut custard pie. It was truly a beauty. You'd have a lot of fun with us! All you need to do is have a good sense of humor and the ability to have patience with the family's many eccentricities--especially my brother's! Ohhhh, lord
You and your brother deserve medals for your pie consumption! I like most flavors of pies but, I am happy with a small slice. This said, I would love to have a slice of both the coconut cream and the apple crumble from The Village Diner! I am curious about 'the former cook’s bakery outside town'? You and your brother may have to make a return trip to Milford. :-)
Unimaginable--such an excursion. It probably should have been stretched over six months at least. Is pie really the all-American treat? I'm not convinced (brownies?) But I would not want the task of tasting all the brownies in all the diners along Route Six, or anywhere else for that matter.
Oh, shoot, I replies to you but not directly.....maybe you would like to join my brother's Southern Civil War Battlefields/looking for great hush puppies trip?!
Probably 6 months would have been saner but then you have to meet my brother. I've decided not to go on his Civil War battlefield expedition which includes the hunt for the best hush puppies. I think I might agree about brownies, so easy to pocket, SOO much easier to bake
Wow. You are my heroes! What an adventure, what fun, what tummy aches. Let me just say: Lactaid chewables after the first bite. There's a lot of dairy in them pies. Congrat's on still being family and thanks for taking on this challenge. I surely enjoyed it! ❤️
Jarring cutout, indeed. I may have nightmares after seeing this!

Wow. I'm impressed with your focus and fortitude! Apple pie for breakfast is my favorite!

The Village Diner sounds like a winner. Makes me nostalgic for the East! The texture of the cream pie is palpable based off your description.

A wonderful journey and I've loved every mouthful...I mean step along the way! BTW, I used to work with Gifford Pinchot's grandson.
You did? Did he tell you stories about him?

I would seriously think of moving there and asking for a job at the Village.
I really enjoyed traveling along, Pat, and I admire your fortitude! Now I want pie 🥧
Ha!
