Thank you as always for your kind words. They are so forgiving, aren't they? I brought a plate of the little tartlets over to a friend for breakfast. She and her kids devoured them so there is that! And yes, I'll get out there soon and YES lets makle a pie together. I promise not to destroy your kitchen
Don't tell anyone but I often use Pillsbury after someone gave me a chicken pot pie using one and it was incrediubly flakey. The heresy continues! (I'm sooo going to be drummed out of the food world.)
(He's incredibly sick but ate two tartlets before bed last night after a shot of Mucinex so that should help and slept like a snoring bear!)
Oh Pat! I am so sorry your pie didn’t turn out as you hoped it would, especially since it was too celebrate time with your family and friend. Hot flour, too much fat and water....some days are like that. But, you tried, and you get a blue ribbon for that! Let’s make pie together. When can you come out to Pie Cottage?
And thank you for the very kind mention of my newsletter, too!
Pat, that was a fun article! I have never succeeded in making a pie crust. It's the Betty Crocker refrigerated crust for me. The lemon curd was outstanding! Loved having you guys over and having our visit memorialized here. Hope Chris is feeling better. At least he can't claim that the crust made him ill!
Thank you for sharing! I'll remember this the next time I attempt pie crust--I've only tried making "hand pie" and pierogi dough in the last few years--this summer will be full size pie time! :)
Understand completely! Made a pie in Hawaii.. disaster for the same reasons plus had used a wine bottle as the rolling pin. No sugar so used a ginger soda thickened with flour, plus raspberries for the filling.... which was surprisingly good. The crust... laughable. Had to break apart with a knife point!

Use a good processor and just remember to have fun!
That's a great motto: "No such thing as a bad pie."
Now that's food for thoughts. I believe it deeply, and so does my Buddha belly.
