I agree that the Gettysburg Address should be read on this most American of holidays, especially at this fraught moment when our democracy is in such peril. That tart also sounds like a classic. Thanks, Pat! I hope you have a happy Fourth.🇺🇸
A very good idea! If that was so, maybe we wouldn't be in this mess. A wise old woman said to me once the best thinking happens over a big slice of pie (and tart)! And back at you and your family as well. We'll get through this.
Pat you are so right about reading and sharing Lincoln's Gettysburg address today! And perhaps tomorrow, too and maybe even regularly throughout this crazy time, until 'We the People' wake up! You are so very appreciated for reminding me of how insightful Lincoln was about the poor capacity of humans to learn from history. Good on you to bring what we really need to remember on this day!!!
I saw an AI photo recently where Trump's face was carved right next to Lincoln's on Mount Rushmore!! I had to lie down for awhile after that but then I thought, well, Lincoln's word will live on but Trump's face may very well end in a land slide because in the photo it cuts right into a precarious rock seam. These are the hopes we have to live on these days....and tarts. Lots of Ameican tarts ;)
I encourage you to take breaks from our tragedy. We really need to take care of ourselves and our friends and family while this baloney is happening. Take time to feed our spirits with the things we love and enjoy. A few good naps while reading a favorite book can go along way towards forgetting his royal little highness! :)
I am thinking about using the Crust and Cream Filling from the American Tart with other fruits, too. Like plums and maybe Strawberry/Rhubarb! :-)
AMEN!!!! A saner suggestion has never been made! I'll add the age old therapy of staring into space, some beautiful corner of where we live even if it's the sky. And naps anywhere you can catch them. And if not the energy for tarts then cold watermelon for a good old fashion seed spitting contest!

We will! We must! A slice of pie (or tart) will certainly help!

That's one hell of a rallying cry?
